Relaxing in Eurodam’s Retreat Cabanas

HAL guests Matt and Janay Rodenbeck submitted this note and amazing photos from their recent Eurodam cruise to the Caribbean.
I want to send a quick message in praise of the Retreat cabanas on the Eurodam. My wife and I decided to book one of the Retreat cabanas for the week on our 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise in October of 2009. At that time, the cabanas (both Lido and Retreat areas) were a fairly new concept and only available on the Eurodam, but since we didn’t have a balcony cabin we decided to give it a try. I have to say it was the best money I’ve spent on a cruise yet.

Even though our first day in the Retreat area was rained out, it turned into our own little private slice of Heaven aboard the Eurodam every day after that. We were treated like royalty by the attendants, Mark and Enrique. They made sure our every need was met without being intrusive. A special menu with lunch offerings was available everyday. If we preferred something from the Lido buffet they offered to get it. The cabana was always stocked with fresh fruit, bottled water and Evian misters to keep us cool. In the afternoon the attendants brought around chocolate covered strawberries and champagne to all of the cabana guests. We enjoyed the Retreat area so much we decided to skip one of the port days and stay in the cabana!

To say we had a great experience with the Retreat Cabana is an understatement. I highly recommend you consider renting a Retreat Cabana if you have a cruise booked on the Eurodam or Nieuw Amsterdam. I know it sure made our cruise extra special!
